I am a scholar of Qur'anic and Islamic Studies and Christian Theology. In my work I focus on historical and literary studies on the Qur’an, Islamic exegesis, gender related studies in classical Islamic literature and visual and material culture studies. I studied at the Humboldt University of Berlin and the Free University of Berlin (Ph.D. 2012). Following research positions at the Collaborative Research Centre 626 at the Free University of Berlin and at the Corpus Coranicum Project at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, I was a post-doctoral fellow (2016-2020) at the Martin Buber Society of Fellows at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. I joined the Department of Comparative Religion in 2021 as a senior lecturer (assistant professor).
